INDIANAPOLIS – Prep players may have to wait a little longer to start accepting scholarship offers.

Northern Illinois women’s tennis coach Ryun Ferrell announced the dates for the Northern Illinois tennis clinics and high school team camp on Wednesday. The program begins with two free clinics, on Wednesday, June 2 and Thursday, June 3. 

The top Mid-American Conference institutional awards were handed out Wednesday as Kent State was awarded the Reese Trophy representing the top men's athletic program and the Jacoby Trophy representing the top women's athletic program.

Freshman Brittni Fausett and sophomore Sara McLaughlin each posted straight-set wins at the respective No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions, but the ninth-seeded Northern Illinois women's tennis team saw its season end in a 4-2 setback versus No. 8 Ball State in the first-round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Thursday.

After undergoing an 18-month, campus-wide effort to study its intercollegiate athletics program as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I athletics certification program, Northern Illinois University has received the highest classification of "certified," the NCAA announced Thursday. This is the third time Northern Illinois has successfully gone through the organization's certification process.

WATERLOO, Iowa – The Northern Illinois women's tennis team did not drop a single set in three-of its singles matches, and cruised to three more victories in doubles play, recording a convincing 7-0 win over South Dakota at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo, Iowa Saturday afternoon. Fourth-year Northern Illinois head women's tennis coach Ryun Ferrell added two more players to his 2010-2011 roster, with the official signings of Haley Dekkinga and Ilse Pacheco to national letters of intent. Both players will have four years of eligibility at NIU beginning in the 2010 fall semester.

The Northern Illinois women’s tennis team recorded a combined eight singles and doubles wins in the first day of the NIU Invitational on Friday. Sophomore Sara McLaughlin secured wins in both the singles and doubles flights to highlight the Huskies’ performance.
