Northern Illinois athletics ranks among the top universities in the Mid-American Conference, and has once again topped the national average in the Graduation Success Rate of its student-athletes, according to data released Wednesday by the NCAA.
The Northern Illinois men’s golf team fired a one-under 287 to claim second-place after the first day of the Cardinal Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Louisville. Freshman Nick Schiavi shot a three-under 69 and is tied for fifth-place individually after the first 18 holes. All five of NIU’s competitors are in the top-35 heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Junior Bryce Emory shot a three-over 147 to lead the Northern Illinois men’s golf team on the first day of the Saint Mary’s Invitational. The Huskies are in 13th-place after the 36-hole first day of competition on the Monterrey Bay.
Northern Illinois Athletics is inviting all area golfers and Huskie fans to support NIU teams by participating in the inaugural “NIU Coaches’ Classic” golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 12 at Kishwaukee Country Club.
