SAN DIEGO – The Northern Illinois University softball team broke out of its scoring drought in a big way in game two of a doubleheader with San Diego Wednesday evening, defeating the Toreros, 7-1 at the University of San Diego Softball Complex.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Northern Illinois men's tennis team captured the doubles point for the second time this season, and picked up three individual wins in singles play, leading to a 4-3 dual match win over Connecticut on Wednesday.
Junior Bryan Deutsch will represent Northern Illinois University at the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Neb. March 18-20 as he earned an at-large selection in the 157-pound weight class. The NCAA released the 2010 brackets for the national championships Wednesday.

The Huskies (2-6) stormed back from a 3-1 deficit to score five runs over the final four innings for a 6-4 victory in Game One, and junior Jeremy Gonzales allowed one hit over seven shutout innings in NIU’s 6-2 win in Game Two.

WATERLOO, Iowa – The Northern Illinois women's tennis team did not drop a single set in three-of its singles matches, and cruised to three more victories in doubles play, recording a convincing 7-0 win over South Dakota at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo, Iowa Saturday afternoon. The Huskies have now captured four-straight dual match wins.
The Northern Illinois men's tennis team captured individual wins in each of the top four singles flights, recording a 4-3, non-conference win over defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Southern Illinois at the Forest City Tennis Center in Rockford on Sunday afternoon.
