When it was announced that Northern Illinois would be playing Florida State in the Orange Bowl, the consensus was the Huskies might have a tough time filing their ticket allotment of 17,500.
According to an NIU news release, the school has distributed approximately 5,500 tickets. Meanwhile, a Florida State spokesperson said FSU has sold roughly 4,000 tickets.
Last week, NIU athletic director Jeff Compher told the Daily Chronicle the Mid-American Conference is covering the school's ticket obligation. So, NIU won't be on the hook for any unsold tickets.
