Lynch 7th in Heisman balloting

Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch finished in seventh place in the 2012 Heisman Trophy balloting. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the first freshman to accomplish the feat.

Lynch had a total of 52 points, and received three first-place votes.

The junior from Chicago completed 62.9 percent of his passes for 2,962 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2012, and ran for 1,771 yards and 19 touchdowns, helping to lead NIU to an Orange Bowl appearance. Lynch's rushing yards are an NCAA record for an FBS QB. His 4,733 yards of total offense led the nation.
