Week 13 MAC picks

With Northern Illinois and Kent State clinching their respective divisions last week, the last week of Mid-American Conference regular season is somewhat uneventful.

I'll have my NIU pick in my live blog Friday from Ypsilanti, Mich. Here's who I'm taking in the rest of the conference:

Tuesday

Akron (1-10, 0-7 MAC) at Toledo (8-3, 5-2), 6 p.m.

The Rockets can't win the MAC West, but a win here gives Toledo a nice, 10-win season and a good chance at a berth in the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl.

Pick: Toledo

Friday

Ohio (8-3, 4-3 MAC) at No. 23 Kent State (10-1, 7-0), 10 a.m.

A few weeks ago, it looked like this game would decide the MAC East before Ohio decided to tank.

Pick: Kent State

Ball State (8-3, 5-2 MAC) at Miami (Ohio) (4-7, 3-4), 12 p.m.

The Cardinals have had an underrated season. NIU's win in Muncie, Ind. keeps looking better and better.

Pick: Ball State

Buffalo (4-7, 3-4 MAC) at Bowling Green (7-4, 5-2), 1 p.m.

The Bulls have quietly won three in a row, but that streak stops here.

Pick: Bowling Green

Central Michigan (5-6, 3-4 MAC) at Massachusetts (1-10, 1-6 MAC), 2 p.m.

With the outrageous number of bowl games and four schools ineligible for the postseason due to NCAA sanctions, the Chippewas have a real shot at competing in a bowl game with a win.

Pick: Central Michigan

Last week:
3-3

Season to date: 70-21
