Northern Illinois running back Jamal Womble has been suspended from the team indefinitely, NIU spokeswoman Donna Turner confirmed Monday night.

Womble was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than the legal limit, and improper lane use on Friday. He didn't dress for NIU's 45-3 win over Buffalo on Saturday afternoon.

The senior tailback has eight rushes for 12 yards with a touchdown so far this season. He had three carries in the season opener against Iowa and carried the ball five times in Week 2 against Tennessee-Martin, losing a fumble.
