On Sept. 20, 2014, Northern Illinois will play a Southeastern Conference school for the first time since 2008, when the Huskies travel to Arkansas.

The contest will be played at Fayetteville's Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium at a time to be determined. NIU's last game against a Southeastern Conference school was a 13-9 loss at Tennessee back in 2008.

NIU last played Arkansas on Nov. 12, 1994, losing 30-27 in Fayetteville.

"It's always good to play elite schools from other conferences," NIU athletic director Jeff Compher said in a news release. "This is a place we haven't been to for quite some time and provides a great opportunity to showcase our program in an SEC venue. It's a game our players and our fans will look forward to. I want to thank [Arkansas athletic director] Jeff Long and his staff for working with us to get this game on the 2014 schedule."

The 2014 contest in Fayetteville will mark the 10th time NIU has played an opponent from the SEC's current alignment. The Huskies are currently 1-8 against the conference.

Other recent NIU contests against the SEC include a 2003 win at Alabama, a 2000 loss at Auburn and a 1999 defeat at Vanderbilt.

The game at Arkansas is one of three non-conference games NIU has currently scheduled for that season. The Huskies will travel to Wake Forest Sept. 13, and host Idaho at a date to be announced.
