Former Huskie Oruche representing Nigeria in London

Former Northern Illinois men's basketball player Richard Oruche is playing for Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Oruche played at NIU from 2005-07 before transferring to Illinois-Springifled. He played in 18 contests during the 2006-07 season. During the 2011-12 season, Oruche averaged 15.4 points per game for Associacao Academica de Coimbra in Portugal.

Nigeria, who is making its first-ever olympic appearance, opens up play against Tunisia Sunday at 3 a.m. CT. Nigeria will take on the United States Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
