NIU men's hoops holds walk-on tryouts

The Northern Illinois men's basketball team will hold a walk-on tryout session Wednesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Each participant must be a current NIU student, pass a physical and be cleared to play through the NIU Compliance Office. Those interested in trying out for a non-scholarship, walk-on position next week must contact NIU Director of Basketball Operations Kent Dernbach at (815) 753-1362 or at kdernbach@niu.edu.

NIU team spokesman Brett McWethy said the Huskies did not have a walk-on tryout last year due to a full roster but that the coaches plan to have a walk-on tryout on a yearly basis.
