Zebrowski to be named QB coach, Poore moves to wide receivers

The Daily Chronicle has confirmed that University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski has been hired to become the quarterbacks coach for Northern Illinois and Pat Poore will move to wide receivers coach, though the two will work closely together.

Zebrowski was named the 2009 FootballScoop Division III Coordinator of the Year after the Warhawk offense ranked fourth in scoring in D-III at 42.5 points a game and fifth in total offense at 489.6 yards a game. UW-Whitewater led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring, rushing, total offense, passing efficiency, first downs, third down conversions, sacks allowed and fourth down conversions.

Zebrowski previously was the head coach at Lakeland, where he guided the team to a 28-13 record in four seasons. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Millikin College. Zebrowski also spent three seasons coaching wide receivers, tight ends and quarterbacks at Southern Illinois. Judging by the timeline on his bio on the Wisconsin-Whitewater Web site, which you can read here, his time at SIU appears to be before current NIU coach Jerry Kill was the head coach in Carbondale.

Poore has been the quarterbacks coach at NIU since his arrival. Prior to that, he was the quarterbacks coach at Southern Illinois from 2001-07. Poore will take over for P.J. Fleck, who left NIU to become the wide receivers coach at Rutgers.
