Final: Northern Iowa 71, Northern Illinois 65

DeKALB – A slow start and a couple of long second-half droughts were too much to overcome for the Northern Illinois women's basketball team on Wedneday afternoon against Northern Iowa.

The Huskies fell, 71-65, to the Panthers at the Convocation Center despite 27 points from guard Marke Freeman.

Northern Illinois fell to 3-4 on the season while Northern Iowa is now 2-4.

The game was held at noon because of a promotion with area elementary schools. About 800 kids came on a field trip to watch the game and go through some educational programs before the game.
