Northern Illinois punter Tyler Wedel was named a candidate for the Ray Guy Award Friday. The award is given to the nation's top punter each season.

Wedel is averaging 4.23 yards per punt this season. He also handles kickoffs for the Huskies and is averaging 60.8 yards with 20 touchbacks. With kicker Mathew Sims injured the past two weeks, Wedel has gone 3 of 5 on field goals.
