Northern Illinois men’s basketball signed Dontel Highsmith to a national letter of intent Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
The 6-2 combo guard averaged 27.8 points for Dowagiac High School in Michigan last season. He added nine rebounds, four steals and four assists a contest.
“We are extremely happy to have Dontel joining our program,” NIU coach Mark Montgomery said in a news release.
“He is an athletic, combo guard, an explosive scorer with a strong body. Dontel is a great kid with high character, he is a big-time athlete that can breakdown defenses, create shots for others and is a very good on-ball defender.”
