Northern Illinois is preparing to take on Western Michigan in a critical Mid-American Conference game on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Western Michigan. At Tuesday's weekly news conference, NIU players Jason Meehan, Ryan Brown and Michael Santacaterina previewed Saturday's game and reviewed last week's victory against Akron.

"That is a big point of emphasis for us," Santacaterina said of NIU's red zone defense, which has been key to NIU's 7-1 start. "Any time a team is the red zone their goal is to go 100 for 100 and ours is to at least hold them to a field goal and a turnover is even bigger. But any time they are in the red zone we are going to blow up and give it everything we got to hold them."
