Questions from John Myers:
Has Volk been practicing and is there an ETA on his return to the active lineup?
Junior offensive tackle Jared Volk (offseason knee surgery) has been out most of camp, but started practicing Wednesday. Northern Illinois coach Dave Doeren sounded optimistic about him Thursday and hopes to have Volk for the season opener against Iowa.
Is Krempel ready to start?
Junior offensive tackle Matt Krempel had been out with a minor hand injury, but he was practicing Thursday, wearing the limited-contact yellow jersey. He should be ready to go for Iowa. Krempel had been the first-team right tackle, but Ryan Brown took over when Krempel got hurt, and Brown was still with the first team Thursday. It'll be interesting to see where Krempel's taking his reps the next couple of days. There's been a lot of shuffling on the offensive line throughout camp.
Question from Eric Albrecht:
Will Pegram be medically redshirted and eligible to play next season?
As you know, Pegram is out indefinitely with a lower leg fracture. It obviously depends on whether he plays or not this season. I'm not a doctor and I'm not sure how severe the injury actually is, but I would think there's a good chance he plays in 2012. Hypothetically, if he didn't play, he could certainly apply for a medical redshirt where he would be eligible to return for a sixth season.
