Jacobson hired as Daily Chronicle sports editor

By DAILY CHRONICLE STAFF - sports@daily-chronicle.com

Ross Jacobson has been named sports editor of the Daily Chronicle.

Jacobson comes to DeKalb from the Northwest Herald, where he was a sportswriter covering the area’s high school and community scene since January.

A 2010 graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Jacobson also interned at the Northwest Herald and at the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader in 2009.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the sports section at the Daily Chronicle,” Jacobson said. “I look forward to building on our coverage of Northern Illinois University athletics and high school sports in DeKalb County.”

The move was made effective last week and Jacobson’s first day was Monday. Jacobson replaces John Sahly, who has been named the Daily Chronicle’s web producer effective immediately.

Sahly will lead the Daily Chronicle’s digital, mobile and social media efforts in news, sports and features.

Jacobson can be reached at rjacobson@shawmedia.com or at 815-756-4841, ext. 224.
