NIU receiver arrested for alcohol consumption by minor

A Northern Illinois receiver was arrested and released Sunday morning for consumption of alcohol by minor, according to an NIU Police report.

Anthony Johnson, a redshirt sophomore, was pulled over about 2:12 a.m. Sunday when an officer on patrol observed traffic infractions committed by Johnson. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and released after posting $150 bond.

NIU football coach Dave Doeren is aware of the situation and is collecting all the facts, director of communications Donna Turner said. Doeren was unavailable for comment because he is in New York where quarterback Chandler Harnish will be honored tonight as one of the National Football Foundation's 16 scholar-athletes for 2011.
