
After two rounds, 36 holes of competition at the University of Missouri’s Columbia Orthopaedic Group OG Mizzou Intercollegiate, the Northern Illinois men’s golf team stands in a tie with Mid-American Conference foe Ball State for eighth place.
In Monday’s play at The Club at Old Hawthorne, the Huskies posted a first-round 297 (+9) and bettered that score by one stroke in the second round, compiling a 296 (+8), for a two-round total of 593 (+17). With that score, NIU is seven strokes behind Wyoming and nine away from Iowa State. Kansas State leads the 15-team field with a score of 571 (-5).
Individually, Griffin Bauman fronts the Huskies, as he scored a 74 (+2) and 69 (-3) for a total of 143 (-1), putting him in a tie for eighth. Jeff Dick sits in a tie for 22nd after scoring a 147 (72 | 75 | +3). Greg Pohlmann stands in a tie for 46th, posting a 152 (78 | 74 | +8). In his spring debut, Bryce Emory ended the day in a tie for 53rd after totaling a 153 (75 | 78 | +9) and Paul Hammerschmidt rounds out the NIU line-up in a tie for 58th with a 154 (76 | 78 | +10). Wyoming’s Gabe Maier leads the pack with a 140 (69 | 71 | -4).
NIU will play the final 18 holes tomorrow at the par 72, 7,221-yard course.
