
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Finishing Day One ahead of the Big Ten Conference’s No. 85 Ohio State and Wisconsin, the Northern Illinois men’s golf team put together an 18-hole total of 301 (+17) to place 14th in the 54-hole, three-round Florida Atlantic Invitational at Gleneagles Country Club, Friday.
NIU stands three strokes away from a four-way 10th-place tie between No. 97 St. Mary’s (Calif.), South Florida, Murray State and Marquette.
Jeff Dick leads the Huskies with a stroke total of 73 (+2), which is good for a 25th-place tie, while No. 79 Notre Dame’s Doug Fortner paced the pack with a 64 (-7). Griffin Bauman swung a 74 (+3) to finish in a tie for 33rd. Matt Triplett and Greg Pohlmann both ended in a tie for 60th after each shot a 77 (+6). Kurtis Luedtke rounded out the Huskie day with an 82 (+11) for an 86th-place tie.
NIU will continue with the second round of 18 tomorrow at the par 71, 6,750-yard course, finishing the event with the final 18, Sunday.
