By NIU Media Relations

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team defeated Findlay, 27-12, and fell to Stanford, 22-18, and Michigan State, 28-6, at the Spartan Duals on Saturday afternoon.

"Overall, it was a good day," NIU coach Dave Grant said. "Our guys wrestled really well today. It was a gutsy performance. We faced some good competition."

The Huskies (7-6, 0-1) received strong performances from redshirt juniors Bryan Deutsch and Vince Castillo as both went 3-0 on the day. Castillo (141) pinned Findlay's Chris Andrews in 4:05, earned a 4-0 decision over Brett Baumbach of Stanford and scored a 4-3 win over Michigan State's Dan Osterman.

Wrestling at 157, Deutsch opened his day with a pin of Findlay's Michael Lybarger in 6:43 and followed that up with a 6-0 win over Michael Kent of Stanford. He edged out Michigan State's Anthony Jones in a 10-9 decision.

Grant was also impressed with the day Dakota Greenhaw turned in at heavyweight for NIU.

"He gave a tough, hard-nosed performance," Grant said. "He's taking steps in the right direction."

Greenhaw went 2-1 on the day, defeating Matthew Clum of Findlay, 7-1, and scoring a victory over Stanford's Dylan Rush by injury default. He also had a solid showing against Alan O'Donnell of Michigan State, losing a 6-5 decision.
