In Sunday's contest against Mid-American Conference opponent Buffalo, the Northern Illinois women's soccer team outshot the Bulls, 13-11, but were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities as the Huskies fell to the Bulls, 2-0, at the UB Stadium in Buffalo N.Y.

Northern Illinois (4-8-2, 0-4-2 MAC) outshot Buffalo 13-11, while recording eight shots on goal to the Bulls five in the contest. The Huskies held a 6-0 cornerkick advantage in the contest.

Christen Schuler and Kelly Mullany led the Huskies as each recorded three shot attempts and two shots on goal in the match-up.

"It was a tough weekend for us on the road," NIU women's soccer coach Carrie Barker said. "We have five games left and we still have a lot to play for."

The Bulls took an early lead over the Huskies, when Buffalo's Stephanie Velez found the net at just the 6:21 mark. NIU's goalkeeper Lindsey Curnock was drawn out of the net, allowing Velez to score on an open net. Angela Nicholas assisted Velez in the goal.

Velez recorded her second goal of the game in the 46th minute of play. Velez had a break away from 20 yards out after receiving the ball from Aubrey Stahl, and fired a shot from close range to hit the back of the net.
