After Wisconsin scored a goal in the 29th minute of play, the Northern Illinois women's soccer team was unable to battle back as the Huskies dropped a 1-0 decision to the Badgers on Thursday night. The loss dropped NIU to a 1-2 record on the season.

In the 29th minute of play, Wisconsin's Erin Jacobsen shot a free kick from 25 yards out to score the lone goal of the game. Jacobsen's goal was her first this season.

The Badgers outshot the Huskies, 15-3, but goalkeeper Lindsey Curnock boasted six saves in the match.

Senior Lisa Maier, junior Christen Schuler and sophomore Kelsey Passaglia each recorded a shot for Huskies, but were unable to score on any of their attempts.

"The girls did exactly what we asked of them," NIU coach Carrie Barker said. "They played a great game and sometimes the ball does not go your way. I'm very proud of how the girls played tonight, and they should be proud as well. We will look forward to our next game as we prepare for Illinois State."
